Eastpoint:
At the Heart of Florida's Oyster Harvesting Industry

Step back in time to a place truly forgotten!
Situated between the historic towns of Apalachicola and Carrabelle is the main heartbeat of the oyster harvesting industry! The men and women of Eastpoint have made “tonging and culling” their center stage of life for years, here along this stretch of Florida’s Forgotten Coastline.
As viewed by many passersby along the Scenic Highway 98 – these oystermen and women launch their small wooden boats early in the morning and bring in their croaker sacks full of succulent Apalachicola Bay oysters late in the afternoon.

This is truly a profession of the past as each oyster is caught with the large “rake like” tongs and culled by hand, ensuring only the finest specimens are brought to the docks. A typical visit of this area is aweinspiring to say the least, not to mention quite tasty, as you are surely bound to taste a sample of some of the freshest oysters ever!
If you are looking to relocate to a remote paradise, with access to beautiful beaches, world class fishing, and abundant wildlife - Eastpoint is the place - offering all the amenities of nature and an “affordable choice” of living here on the Forgotten Coast.
